The Inside Passage
Come with us through the calm waters of the Inside Passage as we reposition the David B to Alaska or to Washington State. Every spring we leave Bellingham, Washington and cruise north to Alaska on an 8-day from Bellingham to Ketchikan. Along the way we will make stops in Desolation Sound, where you will be treated to beautiful views of snow-capped peaks, and Bishop’s Bay for a soak in hot springs that look out over the bay where humpback whales are known to visit. Other stops might include a cruise through tight passages like Baker Inlet’s Watts Narrows. In late July we make the return trip by leaving Ketchikan and cruising back to Bellingham.
Each trip we take through the Inside Passage is unique and we have the flexibility to visit new and different locations. A few of the potential highlights of cruising the Inside Passage include watching hundreds of waterfalls cascading into calm deep-water fjords; visiting an abandoned cannery or time permitting, taking a side trip to see ancient petroglyphs and long gone fishing villages. More highlights include watching for orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, dolphins, seals and sea lions. In places the dense forest drapes to the waters edge where we often see bears, wolves, moose, minks, river otters, eagles and ravens.
Don’t forget that like all of our cruises you will be treated to great gourmet food cooked on the boat’s woodstove. Not only will your senses be filled with the wonder and beauty of this unique landscape, but they will also be treated to the taste and smells of fresh-baked sourdough bread and a seemingly unlimited presentation of new creations from the galley to savor.
Because this is a repositioning trip we cover long distances each day and we do run a few nights, however, there will be time to enjoy a few shore excursions and kayaking at our anchorages. This is a great trip for anyone who is interested in seeing one of the world’s most dramatic waterways. Come along for a trip of a lifetime.
Please note that Inside Passage trip highlights are subject to change and anchorages and stops are will be determined by the Captain.
