We often hear the question, ‘how do we know if the David B is the right boat for us?’
When Captain Jeffrey and Christine Smith first saw and fell in love with the David B in her pre-restoration state, it was because of her endless possibilities. Now fully restored, she offers those possibilities to her guests. The pilothouse and the spacious galley both offer seating with great views of the scenery. Want to enjoy some time alone? Feel free to relax anywhere on deck. Because we limit all trips to just six guests, you will actually have more space per person than on similarly-sized boats that carry more passengers.
Many small shipcruise boats the same size as the David B only offer shared bathroom facilities, and cabins with bunk beds. In fact, some boats in our category don’t offer separate cabins at all -- just bunks with a curtain for privacy. However, when we planned the layout of the accommodation area, our priority was the comfort of our passengers. Each stateroom has its own private head (toilet) and sink. The staterooms feel light and airy because of skylights and portholes that can be opened. Three of the four cabins have queen size beds, adding to the feel of spaciousness. Click on our interactive interior layout page to see the staterooms.
Friendships of a lifetime are born on the David B. Our clientele often come from a similar demographic, and that means the fun of meeting people with similar interests. And the adventure of kayaking or exploring a remote island together has a way of cementing those friendships. If what you’re longing for is quiet and peace, there’s space to sit undisturbed and watch the scenery go by, and freedom to explore a village or go on a hike alone.
If you are coming on a David B cruise as a group of three to four people, or for a special event such as anniversary, you may want to consider reserving the whole boat. For the price of five passengers, we guarantee you’ll have the David B to yourselves.
We love to give our passengers personalized attention. From the start, the dream of running a small ship cruise business was based on the idea of an intimate setting, great food, and unhurried time. Because the guests are limited to just six, you and your needs are our priority. Want to stay and look at that interesting seabird a few minutes longer? Wishing for a chance to explore that quaint village for the morning? Because the group is small, we can usually accommodate you.
How small is just right? Come on a cruise of a lifetime and discover that the David B is just right.
